About Us

We were both raised in the Peace country and come from farming backgrounds – Jim grew up on a mixed/grain farm and Shelley’s parents raised livestock, from dairy and pigs, to commercial beef and finally 25 years of raising registered polled Herefords. We pursued successful careers in education and mechanical services, that led to city living, but we always had the desire to return to the farm and raise our family in the country.

In 2005, we had the opportunity to purchase our present location, and establish Rednex Ranch. Now we are able to have our children work with us as part of the team, and continue the tradition of raising Herefords that Shelley’s parents, Harold and Edna Attwood, were so successful at.

With a limited land base, we are focused on raising functional cattle, with attention to fertility, confirmation and performance. We realize building a purebred herd is a continuous process and we are always striving to improve the quality of our stock. When Shelley’s parents retired, we took over their herd, and have been quietly building up the numbers, by keeping our top females and purchasing select females every year.

We background our own calves, keeping the top females for replacements and the bulls for sale, The remaining calves go to our thriving freezer beef program. We see the performance of our genetics from start to finish, and have confidence in what we offer to our customers.

If there is anything we can help you with, we would be happy to serve you. If you are ever in our neighbourhood, by all means, stop in. We welcome your visit and would be happy to show you around.
